Boxing
The "Sweet Science" Beginner's Boxing Class examines the fundamentals of the art of boxing, while developing one's skill set of striking, defending, footwork and head movement. The class will develop and enhance one's individual strength and conditioning levels and their overall physical well being, all of which are required to effectively execute this sport. Kickboxing
Punching, kickboxing, elbows and knees paired with high intensity cardio training and calisthenic exercises provide you with an outstanding work out. In class we will practice striking the heavy bags, shadowboxing, focus mitts and other pads as well as do circuit style cardiovascular training. Class equipment is required for all students to purchase prior to the first class; boxing gloves and handwraps (12, 14 or 16oz boxing gloves are appropriate). Pickleball - Beg
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country. And here’s why: The rules are simple. And while it’s easy for beginners to learn, it can quickly develop into a fast-paced, competitive game as players become more skilled. Combining elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, pickleball is played on a small modified version of a tennis court. Learn the basics of pickleball and master the scoring and flow of the game. Pickleball - Intermediate
Intermediate Class is for students with Pickleball experience. You'll master the starting shots of pickleball, serve, return, groundstroke, volley and basic strategies like court positioning. Swim - Beg
Dive' into the ARC Pool with our staff of certified instructors. For adults with little to no experience. We will work on back floating, freestyle kicking, breathing, and arm movements, as well as becoming more comfortable in the water. We will also introduce breaststroke and/or backstroke as time permits. First class meets at the pool - be ready to swim! Instructor: Joshua (M/W) Location: ARC Pool (Lanes 1-3)
Swim - Int
This class is ideal for adults who feel comfortable in the water and want to continue developing their technique across multiple strokes while becoming more confident in using swimming for exercise. Students should be comfortable with the freestyle stroke and swimming multiple laps. We will continue to strengthen students' freestyle strokes while working on breaststroke, backstroke, and general endurance. Swim - Adv
This class is designed for adults who want to continue developing their technique while incorporating swimming into their weekly workouts. We will work on butterfly, flip turns, underwaters, and more, while pushing students physically. Tennis - Beginning
This is a beginner class and will be open to all players with little experience or are brand new to the game of tennis. Participants will be focusing on basic ground strokes and footwork as well as proper etiquette. Participants will also touch on the basics of volleys and serves. The goal for all participants is to be able to rally and understand the basics of each stroke. Instructor: Yang Location: ARC Tennis Courts 4-6
Tennis - Intermediate
This is an intermediate class and will be open to players with proficient strokes and have the ability to keep a consistent rally by using ground storks and volleys. Players should also know how to properly serve and be familiar with match play and point system. Players will participate in more complex drills that target multiple aspects of the game. The goal of players in this class is to be able to properly transition between different strokes and employ proper footwork. Players will also be introduced to more match/play strategies. *Participants must be able to demonstrate basic strokes and serve the ball. Instructor: Bai Location: ARC Tennis Courts 4-6 Class does not meet on Monday, 1/20 or Monday, 2/17.
